The conscious choice of color is explored in the latest series of paintings by artist, Nicki Bendesky. Inspired by Michelle Obama, in her new “Hopeful” series, Nicki examines colors chosen by various First Ladies for their inauguration dresses ( top row). Displayed through abstract brushstrokes of acrylic and oil paint, conceptual floral representations emerge from the canvas. A lightness, ease, and feeling of hopefulness fall over the viewer as the paintings are considered. Nicki is a professionally trained artist with a BA in Textile Design from Syracuse University. She has a concentration of works in textiles and mixed mediums. Nicki has shown in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 10 years.
